Hello and welcome to Oulu Medical Guild! We are medical students’ association from university of Oulu, founded in 1960. The guild consists of its 700 members and we wish you to be one of them <3
The main purpose of our association is the promotion of the interests of our members, but we also offer plenty of hobby groups and different events, the main one being our annual celebration held in October. One of the perks of guild membership is also our lovely guild room that is located on the Kontinkangas campus (and free coffee&tea).
By joining the guild you can enjoy all the benefits. The cost for exchange student is 15€/half a year and 30€/whole year. Instructions how to buy membership are in the PDF below.
List of our hobby groups: Arytmia – Dancing, Henkireikä – Christian hobby group, Kori-Kossit – Basketball, LäSki – Snow (and sometimes water) sports focused group, Multippeli – Board games, OLK Salibandy – Floorball, OLP / MBKU – Futsal, Oulun Lääkiksen Iskuhoito (OLI) – Volleyball, Stapes – Equestrian group, Terwaspeksi – Student theatre, Cykli – Guild’s magazine, Lääkiksen pipolätkäjengi – Outdoor hockey group, Villoosi – Knitting, Lääkis Golf – Golf, OLK:n Pesä-Pirkat – Finnish baseball, Kymppikerho – 10km running club, Pharetra – Wine Club.
Our events are versatile – some of them are held outside or bars, but the heart of our parties and other events is our own Guild House Walhalla! Parties include halloween and christmas parties, sitsi parties (Finnish tradition, includes singing, drinking and dining), annual celebration, independence day celebration, Kaamoskari film festival, skiing trips and many other student parties. Other events include our easter geogatching hunt, valentine day’s poem path and elephant football tournament, charity runs, lan events, sport experiments (lajikokeilu) and more.
